Monday night could get interesting at Polson City Hall as the commissioners sit down for a medical marijuana storefront moratorium. The hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, in the city hall meeting chambers.
Medical marijuana is not addressed in Polson's city code. During the last meeting, city planning office director Joyce Weaver recommended the city pass a "Urgent/Emergency Moratorium Ordinance" (modeled after a plan passed in Whitefish) until a more formal ordinance was discussed and passed, or the code is rewritten.
I've heard that numerous caregivers, who offer marijuana to registered patients in Lake County, will be attending.
Like I mentioned in the March 4 story, it seemed like discussions weren't leaning toward a ban, but more toward regulations and probably a registration fee for storefronts, etc.
We will keep you updated.
